Tips on fitness training programmes


A good fitness programme should include exercises to enhance the following:

  • Cardiovascular system

  • Muscle strengthening

  • Muscle endurance

  • Flexibility

Your programme should always include:

  • A five minute warm-up

  • Your pre-determined exercise programme

  • A five minute cool down

What to remember during a training session

  • Wear a well designed pair of sports shoes

  • Your tracksuit, shorts , T-shirt or leotard must not be too loose or tight

  • Ensure you have a warm top to wear after excercise

  • Take a sweat towel to your place of exercise

  • Drink at least a litre of water during a 1 hour exercise programme

  • When using barbells or dumbbells a pair of gloves are advisable

  • Always put away all your weights and equipment when finished

  • Adhere to the programme worked out for you, do not try and do more

  • When using the predetermined circuit remember to adhere to the timer

  • If you feel faint or dizzy stop what you are doing, sit down and rest

  • Be sure to tell the aerobics instructors or personal fitness trainers if you have any medical condition or injury
